When I lived in Dingle, there were more seals found on the beeches with holes in their heads than live one's seen in the water. Illegal salmon netting entrepreneurs did not lke their nets raided.

If somebody brings home a few mackerel or pollock for the pan there seems to be an outcry, but the barbaric sloughter of seal cubs draws an eerie silence! They live in the sea and are much more entitled to fish than any of us who get a kick out of satisfying our egos as sports hunters. A cull may be needed, but let it be organised and regimented........adults only....same as we ask for in fishing. It is something could be carried out by the Irish Army in a humane manner.
Species 2011: Mackerel, Sandeel, Cod, Coley, Pouting, Ling, Pollock, Cuckoo Wrasse, Red Gurnard, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Poor Cod.

Species 2012: Mackerel, Pollock, Coley, Pouting

Horrific and small minded, imagine if tourists or children had of seen it!

Proably the work of illegal netters too!! The Commercial lads would be far too clever for this kind of stunt.

This crap realy gets my goat!...

If this was done by anglers or boater, or even poachers they should be done with the full extent of the law.

I agree that seals can be an issue but who gives anyone the right to do something like that? What benefit does anyone have from doing something like that?

Theres story's of seals all over the country being found on beaches with a bullet in their heads, but why nail them to the sanctuary sign, all they have done is make people more passionate about helping the sanctuary now......

Stupid ignorant small minded people.......

as a commercial fisherman myself i see the damage seals do i fully agree with a HUMANE cull but what happened in dingle makes me feel sick .no living thing deserves that and anyway any hopes of a cull are probably dashed now with stupid stunts like that, people will be more adamant than ever to protect the seals

Maybe that was the whole point and had nothing to do with fishing?
