I think the shot was taken in a way to make it look even bigger, because looking at the picture it looks about 40lb, I've seen 28lb carp that look half its size. No need for a false perspective shot with a fish like that, but my god thats a wopper!

They're not that uncommon up there to be honest, there are dozens 15lbs and over caught and unreported each year.

I know Ceri well and to to be fair to the guy he releases plenty of big fish as well.

Lovely trout, but as said already, the arms fully extended is not needed for a fish this size!

Well, in fact even bigger ferox was caught just a few days later

http://www.salmo-adventures.com/blogs/i ... x-93-cm-47

And yeah, it was fotoed and released.

The Welsh guy who killed his trophy is a fotographer who works for British Trout Fisherman magazine and I'm surprised that he decided to do so.
Conservation status for trout ferox stands at 'data deficient' however surveys shows decline in numbers in Lough Corrib between year 2008 and 2011.

Why kill that fish to hang it in a pub? Someone who earns a living writing about fishing? For the pot I can understand but that no. Ego? Have been reading about this and seen photos of the fish at the water it looks magnificent. Same angler has another of his captures stuffed on the wall already in that pub. The photo of the fish alive will be a much better record of the fish rather than the decomposing lump outside the pub baffles me and corrib stocks dropping significantly
