Report:Fished around the light house and west from it. tide was rather high, around 5 metres, so fished from higher rock platforms.
After few changes of lures finally got one, but lost it after few seconds. My friend had rather larger pollock on feathers, but broke the line. Than he lost another one when landing the fish. No mackrels.

Any tips for fishing black head for pollocks? Tried there few times, best luck so far on falling tide, during the warm period in March, but since then not much succes.

Black head pollocks are not far from the shore... do not cast too far... I think around Mark 97... 3 coloured feathers are great but is not taken by big ones. If you want you can use worm lures for the bigger ones but then again do not cast too far you are going beyond where they are.

Best months for pollack at Blackhead are definately August and Sept. Incoming tide best and is particularly good when high tide corresponds with the last hour of daylight. Spinners and jellies are good but some biggies are caught floatfishing with ragworm.

I have had 4 on mack feathers on 2 different evenings there last week. I think its a bit easier to fish mid-low tide because you can go down to the lower platform. As another poster said they are not out too far at all and you need to bring them in pretty fast because when they are hooked they make straight for the weedbeds, have lost a good few because of that. I know one spot where they always seem to be there but the ground is pretty cross on the same mark.

Float a strip of mack about 150-200yds right of the l/house there is a step of rock where they hide out, bout 10 feet between bait and float

I'm more a lure and fly angler, but think about trying some natural baits this year - just to catch some of the beautiful fish like wrasse or ray.
