Report:Well with the weather being as it is (unsettled mostly) we took a chance chasing hounds early and damn if it didn’t pay off!!! With 27 hounds in total being pulled in over 3 different days!
1st day Out Canning and myself went to one of Canning favourite marks, a tiny spot, and snaggy.. first cast in Canning was off the mark a HOUND 1st of the year for him!, my first cast resulted in a good doggie, third cast out Canning was busy reeling another hound and then my line went over My first Hound of the year a small pup. And that is the way the night went until my mainline gave up the ghost and kept breaking seemingly through over fishing !!

2nd trip out, after fishing in St Mullins, with Orginalsin, remember the slagging he gave me over the cod.. sweet revenge.. two beauts of Shad with the final one tail walking!! (just to rub it in like!) Well he decided it was time for his revenge and sought to seek solace in the search for the hounds… well, for a long while and getting crabbed to death it looked like the hounds weren’t going to play ball. I had to get something from the car, and originalsin was packed up and ready leave disappointed, when I got back he was busy reeling in my line… His very first hound 4.5 lbder on my rod and line!

3rd Well the gang decided one more bash we spread out over the rocks and Tightlines and Sparkey+1 were already into the hounds by the time Canning and myself got there, 1st cast Canning and myself had hounds we both lost them at the rocks as I was pulling canning out of a weed his fish jumped the hook, and he was helping me take mine up a steep rock my snood snapped! fair is fair, but in total 14 hounds were taken in that night with Sparkey+1 pulling in a personal best AND his first hound!
But just a note of caution I fell off my tackle box (slipped on the wet rocks) and landed into a gully behind me, mid way through the fall I kept thinking that’s it I’m going in the drink!! Landed in a gully on my neck and was bloody sore! But serious thanks yous to Tightlines and Canning nice to know someone has your back … either that or they were planning to raid my tackle box!!!

4th trip out Well with the previous nights actions being the way they were hopes were high, But the hounds had other ideas, there were several people we knew out that night all fishin different areas and we kept in mobile contact just incase the hounds came on the feed, sadly towards the end of the night they did, but on lower rocks just about 20 feet away from us, they didn’t mange to come up further! So needless to say we blanked!
