WEXFORD BEACH 23 FISH 16/05/12

Duration:5pm - 4am

Tide:both

Weather:great

Bait:peeler crab, softback crab, lug, squid, mackerel

Rigs:3/0 pennel pulley rig and 1/0 2 up 1 down rig

Results:COUNTLESS NUMBER OF LSD, FLOUNDER, DAB, ROCKLING, WHITEING

( 23 FISH ALL TOGETHER ) Neil= 13 Me=10

Report:

Me and Neil decided to go down to wexford because the north coast wasnt throwing up much fish and i wanted to try and catch my first smoothie.
we arrived to the beach about 3.30pm and i could see a few gullies were i thought would fish well. so we both set up the rods ( 2 rods each ) 1 with the 3/0 pennel rigs to target smoothies, and the other with the 1/0 2 up 1 down rigs to taget flatties and smaller fish. we cracked the beer open and started fishing, it was slow at first with me reeling in a lsd in 2 hours but when the light faded the beach was on fire, the doggies were on the feed and r rods were twitching furiously. we had flounders and dabs aswell, i was loving every minute of it after the poor last few sessions ive had. then it slacked of round 1am dont know why for an hour. at 2pm we had more flatties & LSD and i hit into a shore rockling and a whiting.

Then as dawn approached the fishing stopped the moon rose from the horizon, it was an amazing sight to see.

We packed up the rods for the night and went to get some sleep after a very eventful night, sadly we didnt manage to catch any smoothies, i think the dogs had r crab baits munched before we had a chance of catching 1 but really i couldnt complain about that session. it was magic.

had a great session and hope to get down again to target smoothies and bass after the bass closed season.

nice fishing lads. looked flat calm to. unlucky on the smoothhounds, gives ya an excuse to try for them again.

well done lads with the few fish and unlucky with the hounds it just that little bit to early for the big hounds on the wexford beaches but when yous come back down after the bass ban yous should have a much better chance of one

Mate that's a great report.

I know what its like to have a great session after the way the North Coasts been fishing this spring. Great fishing the pair of you.

The dogs love the calm water, its a shame you didn't get a hound but what can you do

Love the pictures, hope to give that part of the world a go myself soon.

cheers monty the miles certainly payed off in this case, the dogs were on the attack and it was good to catch a few more speicies inbetween, real good sport hadnt time to drink a beer.

u should go down that way some time monty there really is plenty of coast to fish and plenty of spiecies to target.
