REDBAY PLAICE HUNT 12TH MAY 2012
People: me, jc, bradley
Date : 12/5/12
Venue: redbay area
Duration: 15.00-20.30
Tide: H/W 16.30 hrs
Weather: calm. overcast with sunny intervals
Bait: rag, mack, sandeel
Rigs: flappers
Results: plaice, flounder, sea trout
Report: havent been out for a while and was bustin to get out so rang jc and made the plan. tide not great, weather pretty good and reports of plaice being caught so the only way to go was hit redbay and target them. we knew it would be hard goin durin the day as there wouldnt be much about during daylight hours! got to the mark and conditions looked good. tide coming in but no hook ups for about an hour although the baits getting stripped everytime. was hoakin about in the box when jc shouted he was into one, in came a lovely plaice at 30cms. target fish caught. then the wee man was next to cheer as he caught a plaice aswell. although smaller at 15cms it was target fish caught. the pressure was on me as i was gettin it in the ear about blankin. tryed everthing to no avail until the lucky last cast produced a nice wee plaice at 22cms. target fish caught and over the moon. was packin the rods up and jc shouted he had something cracker on. rod bent and fish scrappin like hell. first glimse looked like a bass runnin all over the place when after a good struggle a fine seatrout was landed. didnt measure or weigh it, just a quick few pics and back in to swim off straight away. it was approx 60cms so wouldnt mind knowing what weight it was. anyway jammy last cast worked a trat as bradley reeled in a plump wee flounder. quality day out and rab 525 will be ragin he had to work.. g
