Swillly and Leenan. Co.Donegal. Friday 11 May

#1 Post by chuckaroo »

People: me + 2

Duration: all day

Tide: HW 10am (ish)

Weather: sunny, chilly, WINDY

Bait: rag, mac, sandeel, squid

Rigs: flappers

Results: not much

hadnt met my Derry mate in a few years so we planned a session for the Swilly. met at Buncrana pier at 11am hoping for maybe a few flatties, a thornie or 2, or even an early mack, but we didnt catch anything there the whole day, only crabs.
moved to Leenan too for a while in-between times and first off Stevie got a decent dab - that i'll be having for my breakfast.. :) - which got the spirits and hopes up. but it ended up as being the best fish of the day as the only other things caught were a small flounder, a wrasse and a spider crab by Stevie. Richard managed a dab and i blanked the whole day
finished up at 10pm and hit the road back home contemplating the planned boat trip back in the Swilly come July.. to make amends!
bit of craic despite the poor fishing

Shame about the results mate but it looks like you got a decent day weatherwise. Nice photos.

That looks like a great daytime view from Leenan.
