Downhill Strand 10th May 2012

#1 Post by Monty156a »

People: Myself & Nial K

Duration: 7.30 'til 11.30

Tide: Filling 'til one hour past full

Weather: Glorious but cold

Bait: Rag, Sandeel & Mack

Rigs: Pulleys, Clipped down & Running legers

Results: Me: Blank Nial: 5 Flounder

Report:
Headed to Downhill as the tide was right with a nice onshore breeze and a decent evening was forecast. We set up and Nial caught his first flounder very soon after. Not a great size but a fish all the same. The weed was shocking and got everywhere, it hauled the lines all over the show and had me reeling in constantly thinking I had a bite on. I ket 'er lit with my usual bait of sandeel with a mack overcoat but it wasn't my night. Nial was having the better result with his favoured rag with mack (I don't like rag, creeps me out  ) and soon after was hauling in another frisky flounder. I went for a dander along the beach where I bumped into WeeDave (pleased to meet ya buddy) and took some photos of a spectacular Innishowen sunset (attached below)

I would rather have shown you all some pictures of fish however lady luck again deserted me :(

Anyhow, enjoy your moment of triumph Nial my day is coming!

Monty

Tough luck there Monty, if the weed was that bad I would have been away hours ago so brownie points for sticking it that long. Have only fished up there a few times and never managed better than a few small flounder.

Thanks guys, its usually a great beach for flatties and throws up good sized Bass or two. Its also a beauty as you can truly fish from the boot of the car.

Might give it another rip tomorrow afternoon, i'm not that easily deterred by a blank or ten

Tight lines over the weekend guys,
Monty.
