#1 Post by rab 525 »

People:me and aul boy

Duration:14.00-20.00

Tide:high tide-approx 16.00

Weather:dry ,dull s/w fresh wind

Bait:lug,squid and mack

Rigs:2 hook and 3hook pats

Results:1 plaice-3/4lb
4dabs-1/2lb
3 coalies
5 whiting up to30cm
19 yes nineteen codling up to 45cm

Report:what a super session ,dont usually fish this venue ,but as driving past saw it was semi sheltred from the wind and there wasn't a sinner on it so give it a go and what a session.
daylight yielded the coalies and plaice and small codling up to 15cm, then in darkness came the better codling and dabs and 3whiting about 30cm and 2 pin whiting.
1/2 hour before we left, a guy from coleraine arrived and on his first cast got a 10lb conger and codling double shot.
run out of bait and had to go home, with a bag of 7 codling and 2 whiting
and a big smile on our faces.
so its back to work for a few days, until thurs

That sounded like an excellent session. 19 codling is pretty amazing, so few of the beggars up my way that I'd think about travelling to fish that spot.

if you are planning to fish it over the weekends get down early as it can get pretty crowded at night over the winter months, there is only SAFE room for about 4 rods on it.

hi,
thats exactly why we dont usually fish here ,because too many try to squeeze in and then all it takes is one eejit who cant cast straight in the dark.last time i fished here before monday night session was nov 2004 and some guy jumped out of car with a spinning rod and spinner and cast at right angles across 4 rods and started to reel in and pulled a guys tripod and rods over.
titelines rab.
if it cant get its jaws round a 1/0 its not worth catching [ mullet excluded ]
