Small inflatable

Hi, new on here I have been fishing for years but always from the shore bass/flatties/conger/mackerel mostly! Anyway I have been toying with the idea of getting a fishing kayak for fishing bay's and a short distance offshore as well as lakes. There isnt much on the second hand market for fishing kayaks! I am on a budget and it will only be for fine-day usage! I spotted this on done deal http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/watersports/3304940 Just wondering would it be safe for what I want! thanks

On a super fine day maybe..... But you'll be wanting more from your boating after a very short time and you won't get it with that setup. I think a 260 is a bit too small. Keep an eye out for a slightly bigger one and you'll be fine maybe a 3.2 and you'll be able to take a friend as well

a bit too small, you'd be better off with something a bit bigger with maybe a aluminimum floor and a 15hp outboard on it, you can be lucky and get a good one for around 2,000 , there has been a few on donedeal recently, mainly Honwaves. i seen people out Cork Harbour in them on a good day

Personally I would prefer a 15hp or even 20hp with the 380 size to get it on plane quicker or even at all.

Make sure you bring someone who knows thier stuff along if you have a look at it. There is a lot of Mutton dressed as Lamb out there.

If you check under boat extras and also sailing and fishing there are plenty of small kyacks and inflatables, however depending on ur preferences and situation something larger may not be much of a larger stretch budget wise. Its a serious buyer market. Here one I noticed but engine would be a bit to small imo

Thanks lads! After googling it and seeing pictures that show it in perspective to other objects it looks awfully small all right! Might Just stick with the Kayak idea as the seem very poplar it should hold its value!

I bought a kayak over a year ago. Best thing I've done in a long time. Brought new meaning to the sport. For that price you pick one up second hand no bother

Small inflatable's are great but where you can use them is limited, I have one which I use in local estuary on very fine days. I would not venture into open sea with it because conditions can change so fast. I think you have to ask yourself a few question about how and where you are going to use it.. Bigger boat and engine the more choice of fishing locations you will have, however you how are you going to transport boat? I can manage to load my 2.8m inflatable, 5hp engine into van and unload and inflate and launch on my own but it is hard work.. so you are you usually going to be going fishing on your own? Trailer would make launching and transport easier but extra cost. and there is not always access for trailer where I fish so boat has to be manhandled.

We are a club. We can let you try a few different models before you commit to buying anything, just come to one of our meets and we'll bring a kayak for you. There's a big meet comming up in June in Cobh, Co Cork.

Just seen it there its called the scooter from perception kayaks.looks good and is rated to river lake and coastal
