Killybegs 15/04/12

#1 Post by PaddyB »

People: Blue Wave SAC + me

Duration: 9 to 5

Tide: High at 3......ish

Weather: Beautiful sunny, just a bit cold

Bait: A handful of rag, and Mack

Rigs: 3 ups and some Hayabusa stuff

Results: Pollock, Coalies, Ballan, Cuckoo, Pout, Dab(me) All of the above + Dogs & Ling(Others)

Report:

We fished outa Killybeg on Sunday, I was a guest with Corney Devlin’s Blue Wave SAC.
There was 9 of us aboard the Duanai Mara with Smithy Campbell, and his son Colin who is a new addition to the Charter Skippers working from Killybegs.
Fishing on the day was excellent and there was any amount of Mack. We fished various rough ground marks around the north shore of Donegal bay. All the usual suspects had shown up in decent numbers, plenty of Pollock, with quite a few in the 5lb to 6lb bracket, Coalies, Ballans, cuckoos, a few pout, dabs, dogs and a stray ling or two.
I don’t know if the mild winter has had a positive effect or what, but there was a lot more wrasse about than the trip we had at the same time last year.
This was my first outing for 2012, so it was good to get out and get the sea legs back!
I think Corney took a few Pic’s, so maybe he might stick a few up.

Cathal it was gran, it wasn't smithy's wee boat we were out on, the Duanai Mara is a bigger boat licenced for 12.

Aye pete there was plenty of Pollock, I spent the first few hours using my normal comp rig, which has been redesigned and upfantasticated in the lab during the winter  , and the second half messing about with various shop bought stuff, which is somthing i'd never really get time to do, as all my outings are either comps or league trips.
