from what ive read online/books (and from limited fishing!) is that a coulpe of hours before high tide on a full or new moon phase at dawn or dusk....? am i right in saying this is ideal time/conditions?

Tide depends on the beach, bass catches do seem to go up around the full and new moon

it can depend on were u are fishing, different venues fish at different states of tides. 1 place i fish will fish good on the first few hrs of rise and another spot is last 2 hrs and 1st down. when u catch on a venue make a note of it, tide wind direction and soon u will no wen a venues fishes and can go around the time.

That bugger, he's always doing that  .

As regards ideal conditions, different marks will fish at different stages of tides under different conditions. The more experienced you get the more you realize their are no hard and fast rules. Bass are certainly opportunists, and hunt by instinct. Having said that they do follow a feeding pattern and you will nearly find them at the same spot at the same stage of every tide, particularly rock marks. Put time and effort into identifying these times and you're on the road to success. If you're just starting off, though, it is a good generalization to target high tide on the higher tides close to dusk.

Just stop fishing those secret traces of yours and start casting a little bit further on your new "bass rod" ,failing that just use smelly half dead ragworm guaranteed to keep any bass away
Danny that Pat fella would winkle a bass out of a puddle :lol:A real quality angler,so don't feel too bad. Bet you he did'nt show you any of his latest latex though, well worth a look at this stage id say

Kept none. I'd only keep 2 or 3 in a whole season and they'll only be the ones that won't go back.
