Hi.
One thing I've been doing to try stop illegal netting is write a letter to local restaurants. In the letter I explain that it is illegal to net & sell bass in Ireland. I ask them to consider these laws if and when they're approached with bass for sale.
The idea is to cut off the demand for illegaly netted bass.
I know the cost of postage needs to be taken on but if everyone sent at least 5 letters to different restaurants it would only cost everyone about €2.75.
Yours hopefully,
John D.

Thanks for that. I didn't see the vote but I liked the page itself. I don't know what the bass netting is like in Dingle so I probably couldn't/shouldn't vote anyway?

Dan, you're new here on SAI so we'll cut you some slack, but don't take that nasty snidey tone with John D - you're out of order and he doesn't deserve it. fyi, he's one of the most respected, committed and active of anglers on this site dedicated to Bass protection and conservation.danbrosnan wrote:Sure don't do noting then.... sure doesn't everyone else do noting just talk about doing something, actions speck louder then words.
He's also entirely correct not to voice an opinion or cast a vote about something he has no first-hand knowledge or experience of. I won't be voting myself on that facebook poll simply because I don't know what the on-the-ground situation is in Dingle. (Plus, I don't want Bradan any more annoyed with me that he already is this month!

By the by, is that your facebook page or do you have any input into content on it?

Could'nt agree more, JimH and Tanglerat. John D has done more than his fair share to try to get the voice of sea anglers heard. He deserves the respect of anyone who fishes in the sea.
What is the point in having a vote about the performance of the IFI on the Dingle peninsula if anglers are not allowed to make up their own mind or have their own opinion.
Telling anglers who have never fished there to vote the way you want them to completly undermines and devalues the whole process.

Haha, TR I don't know what the situation is like in Dingle either, except that they have a lot of very good pubs... and a dolphin or something...Tanglerat wrote:Dan, you're new here on SAI so we'll cut you some slack, but don't take that nasty snidey tone with John D - you're out of order and he doesn't deserve it. fyi, he's one of the most respected, committed and active of anglers on this site dedicated to Bass protection and conservation.danbrosnan wrote:Sure don't do noting then.... sure doesn't everyone else do noting just talk about doing something, actions speck louder then words.

Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!
