Grace is a really hard worker and great to deal with, she also takes feedback seriously and works to improve the shows they run based on that. She called me a couple days after the show in Galway back in November to ask me about something she'd overheard me saying, and looked for my opinions on how to improve that show, so she's very thorough and professional. So lads, if you want to see more sea angling at this show, give the organisers feedback and they will do what they can.
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

i met grace the night before the show and i seen first hand the pressure cooker she works in.i told her of the sai site and bai site and how the reports from the last show put up was one of dissappointment. i told her of the amount of sea anglers who use the show as a meet up from all around the country.and how they were all let down by the small amount of sea tackle available.looking at the guest celeb angler booked for next year i have a good feeling about next years already

Fine words but will they be backed up by good deeds.
In 2011 I sent 3 emails to the organisers about booking a stand to promote sea fishing on the Beara and never got a reply so gave them up as a bad job and went to the City West show.
For this year I did get a reply and follow up phone call but decided against taking a stand because of the poor representation for sea angling with coarse and game being the majority again.
Oh to have one really big show representing all the disciplines instead of 2 shows splitting both the exhibitors and visitors in half so nobody really wins.

there was nearly as many stands promoting fishing trips as there was coarse and fly fishiing stands.they came from every corner of the island.clare, cork , sligo, mayo, donegal, lough swilly. all offering trips and accomodation .then you had trips out of wales, and as far as mauritus what i did notice was there was no one from the wexford charters. or wicklow .they must have full bookings

I am suitably confused Twinkle as other posters on this site said it was 90% fly fishing with litttle for the boat angler and nothing for the shore fisherman

Thanks all for the replies, I suppose at the end of the day the best way to form an opinion on a show is to go there and see for yourself instead of relying on others.

if you read the posts paul every one was of the same opinion. there was a shortage of sea angling tackle for shore and for boat. no body mentioned charters at all even before the show .we were looking forward to some good tackle at the right price.i had no idea jim clohessy was given demos at the show until i got there.so all i done was forward the feed to the organiser of the event. that the guys were disappointed with the amount of tackle and the choice of tackle :?

there was sea tackle there but you really really had to hunt for it :( unlike the fly fishing, course or piking were it stood out, I picked up a lot of charter boat information which a group and myself are going to use really looking forward to a few charter boat trips this year! :D
I was looking for lead weights and a possible spare tripod stand, I missed one that was being sold :( and some of the stalls were selling other brands which i could have gotten cheaper at my local tackle dealer :(
lead weights werent anything special and they mainly focused on roller weights and nothing over 5oz
there was the normal hokais and sabkis for sale and one stall was was doing bulk items, but again some just a little to small for what i would use chasing after cod etc.

I'd like to see the dealers focus on the near to upcoming seasons after all they are fishermen themselves, mackerel, Ray, Bass, Smooth hounds etc..

Hi i went to the show and it was a waste of time i hunted for boat sea fishing gear and found some gear but its ebay shite stuff that you buy on internet get it home and fire it in the shed never to see the light of day again. Last year there was a nice few stalls with good quality gear hooks and rig making gear not this year i stayed there for one hour this year never seen as much shite imo you could time what was going on re fly casting lessons, cooking, i did see john wilson there but all he wanted to do was sell his signed fecking book but thats the reason he was over i did here there was a talk on soft plastics ànd crap like that but i has seen and heard enough for the time i was there. One funny thing happened there was a guy selling second hand lead moulds he had 4 of them well used and abused i asked him how much for them 120 pounds mate there the best you can get cant take a penny less paddy he was laughing at me to his buddy . wtf i looked at him and said first of all im not your mate and you can shove them bits of shite up your arse i found him to be a cheeky cxxt. Will i go back next yes its not to far away is it worth it no way

he chose the right man to call paddy  and your name mick  id say that wipe the grin off his face quick enough  the best deal we got was the shamrock rigs 3x cod caspers 3 munster maulers 2x bleeding glow worms dark menace 2x sabiki becon tempters and 2x kilmore killers all for 22 euros i could have walked off with out paying for them as yer man was at another stall yapping but they were a bargain. the 2 rods i bought were 20 euros each power sticks 240 cm c/w 30-80g if we get a few sessions with plastics out of them they would be worth it.

Hi derek i enjoy a laugh as much as the next lad but a arrogant nob is different thing he did look at me and a guy stand beside me started to laugh at him . The problem with most shows you cant please everybody the pike men had a good show along with the coarse fishermen ,flyfishers plenty of kayak stands . Warrior were there no great effort from them the had 2 boats down from flood marines one new 175 export and a secondhand 165 if the put the different types of fishing in there own section it would help but if that was to happen this year the boat men would not be happy as there was not a lot there for them. How do you encourage other trade to it reduce stand prices dont over pay guests start the advertising earlyer let people know who and what stands are going to be there try and get a few irish shore and boat anglers there to help other anglers in rig making a small clinic i would rather pay to listen to one of our own internationals than some one who is just there for the money telling you what you want to here instead of making you think . We have some of the best fishermen in the world in all disciplines sea ,coarse, and game i dont thing there is much point in a celebrity coming over here telling us about all the fish the have caught all over the world when we have no interest in it back to basics is my thing

those are all excellent ideas 8) .thats the sort of feedback these events need. i know they cant keep everyone happy.but they now have a full year to make a good go of it. it would be great to get as many proposals,of what you think you would like to see at this event next year and i will put them forward to the organizer
