any lol coalish in a shoal will hit any thing that moves. however i find a small dexters wsedge or small bandit lure work really well hope this helps

coleys from the shore (up here anyway) wouldnt get much bigger than just a few pounds, i wouldnt use anything too big.
and agreed, they will take anything
i just use a shiny silver spinner myself

If it definitively coalies your after they tend to sit higher in the water column with the pollock nearer the bottom so alternate depths between casts. Like the guys have said, metal shiny lures tend to pick out coalies - red and orange shades in winter with blues and greens in summer in my opinion.
