Co, Sligo Floundering Janurary 24 th 2012 !!!!

Report:

Was meant to head out with Zeke for the first session of 2012 after a few Sea trout but unfortunately I had to work the next day but luckily for me I was close to a beach mark that I fished once before & had a few nice Flounder & seeing as all the gear was in the car I brought some bait with me to gave it a go for a few hours arrived to a nice surf & quiet strand so wasted no time setting one rod at distance & the other in close & after five minutes got a knock on the distance rod started to reel in slowly till I felt a few nice tugs at the end & in came a fine plump Flounder of 36cm first fish of the year happy days as I was letting her back in the sea I noticed the second rod was twitching so started to reel that one in & felt something good fighting back & out came an even bigger Flounder of 41cm a few pics & back she went.

It died off for a while but then the Flounder were feeding hard one of which I had to wrestle with a Cormorant at one stage that tried to make off with it for a feed got seven more nice size Flounder after that not a bad start for the first session of the year made up for the weeks I wasn't out!!

Cheers chuck, ya sure was a fine size Flounder, I'd say it was a female full of eggs very chunky fish & Ive heard of bigger Flounder taken form the near by beach up to to 45cm I was out fishing with grady in December & he landed a fine 42 cm Flounder very fat fish, happy days if only could get one or two of them every session
