disappointing christmass outings

#1 Post by saving private brian »

got out 3 times over the christmass period and did not catch a single fish.i suppose the weather had a huge factor on why we didnt get anything.was so looking foward to getting home from holland to catch a few decent fish

1st was the 27th where me and a mate went to a north west mayo beach.fished it a few times and had a good enough catch on it.we had all the bait,,mack, sandeel, razor etc.we had only the rods in the water when this sudden storm of 100km gusts nearly made us lie down for protection.the rain aswell was a pain.we packed up and got home for about 23.30pm

2nd was the 30th.just went to a local beach meself and the same mate.lovely conditions for a fish, light breeze, had the same bait etc, bang we were hit with massive i mean massive clumps of 'slat na mara'.for those of ye that dont know irish it means (sea rods) : just packed up and went home ripping mad with disgust

3rd was today the 2nd of jan.met up with two other lads out of the club.i had the rods in for about 12pm.the two others were there a short while before me.we fished a small beach that is sheltered in a bay.lovely venue.we could see the mad heavy swells outside the bay enterance.there was a nice surf with the odd occasional long running surf that comes in for a good bit.one in particular came in and got my feet soaked as i held on to my tripod  .anyway we didnt get anything .the tide was dropping aswell.we stayed for 2 and a half hours and called it a day,.....is it true that bad luck comes in three's???????????.anyway it was still great to get out and keep the passion for shore fishing alive.treated myself to a new abu garcia 2 piece survival suit and am happy to find it very comfortable and and it with stands the grim of harshness of winter beach fishing in ireland.i am so looking foward to the spring months when the fish return to our shores from spawning to give us a great sport in the ambitions of trying to bag one from half a pound to twenty pounds or what ever size.anyway between now and then any one getting good catches make sure to keep the good reports coming.its the first thing i do is as soon as im home from work over there i go straight to the computer and log in and enjoy the reports.right make sure ye all have a good year for 2012 in health and fishing aspects.must go now as i have a bus to catch to the airport :( :( :( :( :( :( .....................all the best brian

Had the same prob last year, had all baits and no good, it kept me 5 sessions to catch a fish, when I eventually caught a bass I nearly cried :D the only solution is to stay at it and the rewards will come, happy new year
The finest gift you can give a fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
