4mtr honda inflatable advise..

#1 Post by oscarsmekat »

Hi Guys, ive just joined the site and i have to say its great to see a wealth of information " floating about". Im wondering if anyone owns or has used a honwave( Honda Inflatable ) for fishing off the coast. I have just purchased a 4 meter honwave t40 ae with solid floor and a 20 hp outboard. Seems like a sturdy enough boat but i would like to know if there are any known issues bar the obvious( hooks etc )... any words of wisdom would be welcome. Im based in navan co meath and will be fishing off clogher head with a bit of luck in 2012 !!

Cheers,

Oscar.

The honwave is a great little craft. The Honda outboard is fairly bullet proof too.( I take it that it is a Honda).
I use a 3.5 around the harbour.
If you can, fit a fish finder, great for sussing out marks.
No harm to get a little pump for bailing out water -while any water goes under the floor when you are stopped it tends to splash while under way. It will empty most of it under way but never all.
Other than that and the usual safety gear you'll have a blast!

Hi Jim,

thanks for the info... any idea on brand/type of the pump?. I have a garmin 250c fishfinder ( its discontinued now ) but its brand new!! as i got it along with a gpsmap720 several years ago for a large project boat that i ran out of time ane money with. i sold off the project but kept the fishfinder, gps and a vhf radio.. Currently working on a bracket that attaches to the transom ( bolt on bolt off ) that will hold the electronic gear.

I need to get hold of some launching wheels ( Im not using a trailor )and a wee anchor ,maybe one or two flares and thats it really.
i have life jackets etc.... just waiting, waiting, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm waiting for some good weather!!! :)

BTW the engine is a Yamaha 20hp 2 stroke. a few years old but in great nick.

I Will post some photos of her when she's ready (Hopefully in the next week or two )

Cheers,

Oscar.

Sorry I missed your reply.

The 250C is a great unit...have one myself.
On the pump something like the Rule IL200 if you have a power source or a Whale Easy Bailer if manual is your choice.
