A break in the storms, Donaghadee, 14/12/11

#1 Post by Drew »

People: Shep and I

Duration: 5.45pm - 7.45pm

Tide: Dropping

Weather: Calm, but stupidly cold.

Bait: Mackeral and Herring

Rigs: 2up 1down, 1up

Results:

3 Coalfish, 2 Pouting, 1 Poor Cod, 5 Whiting, 2 Pollack

Report:

Got a phonecall from Sheppy earlier today asking about the possibility of a session and with the break in the weather it didn't take much persuasion to get me out for a couple of hours.

With the dropping tide heading towards a big low I was expecting a few skitters tonight at best, and sure enough about 10 minutes into the session the parade of mini blighters began with Whiting, Pollack and Poor Cod making a showing.

Unexpectadly also had 3 Coalies for the night, the best being 37cm on the last cast of the evening, it was decided, when we couldn't feel our extremities that we'd call it a night... Nearly slipped on our arses about a dozen times on the way down the pier, but still, good to be out 8)

Good result for 2 hours, well done
The finest gift you can give a fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
