Report:
Had promised a good friend since a fatefull trip last year that i would bring him down to the republic to catch a proper cod, I had taken Joe to Youghal last year to fish for cod and ended up in Hurricane Etna Joe caught a wee fish finger sized codling so made the promise to get him a good one, so Saturday was the day. Joe rang earlier in the week to see if there was room for his nephew to tag along, the more the merrier, (3 seater berlingos were more designed for 2 adults and a child as opposed to 3 grown men ) the banter and crack was good on the way. Decided to bring the lads to a marker that has produced fish for me in the last few trips and that would be easy to fish for the lads as they are only starting out in sea fishing, may have got the easy fish wrong on this one we lost some amount of gear through the session.
Had got some fresh peeler from nationwide and as usual they were top notch and lively little feckers 'ouch' and 'you little F@&k$r' were heard on a few occaisions had a good giggle watching the lads get to grips with the crab...
Joe was first off the mark with a lovely 2lber, success, great to see Joe get what he wanted. Daniel was next off the mark with a little half pounder that went back to grow up. At this point deja vu was setting in, last couple of trips i have brought out lads wanting to get into sea fishing and have been out fished by them bloody beginners After a little while i got off the mark but got snagged as i came up to the wall could not dislodge the fish and after trying everything bar trying to get the car ferry to the other side the line snapped thankfully my next take turned up another nice 2lber. During the night we actually lost about 4 good fish at the base of the wall the joys of fishing. Met Preston off the site at about 7pm as a mini invasion of what had to be whiting set in, good to meet you Preston, after a bit of banter back to work and we had another few 2lbers and just before we packed up i caught a lovely 4lber dignity saved All in all a great nights fishing but even more so to see the lads getting some good fish, 2 more converts also could not believe the weather that we had last night, we were sweltering in the gear, had a bit of haze but that was it last year you could hardly drive the roads

Hi Preston, could not believe that it was December last night, a short while after you left the cod chased off the whiting again, one of the fish that Daniel caught had a scrap with something else before we saw him, there was a good chunk taken out of his tail someone else seeks the cod too

Hi Neil, the same happened us about 3 years ago, we arrived and and fish Monkstown all day and well into the evening with no success, we were staying in the East Village in Douglas and a lad there told us when we got back 'sure the lads trawled it yesterday' a kick in the teeth hopefully they'll come back around and strike it lucky

How's it going Wabs, good crack was had by all but the 3 of us were crippled after the journey home, I reckon the lads put on a stone with all the talk of how they were goin to cook their catch
