south wexford 28th nov

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: mise

Duration: 8-11pm

Tide: hw and dropping

Weather: windy

Bait: whites, lug, mac, sandeel, razor, squid

Rigs:3 hook flap, pulley

Results: 3 rockling 1 coalie

Report: arrived at the beach to see weed situation and nearly fell into the sea!
the relatively calm seas here normally were producing some nice tables of surf as the dunes sheltered me from the wind. however the sea had gouged away about 3ft depth of the beach and it was a sheer drop into the suds

set up on top of the ledge and cast away in front - not much weed but needed 3 oz other wise it was thrown up on the beach, out farther it was grand with nothing touching mac or sandeel

then the rockling showed up enjoying the whites - as tide began to drop - some bits of weed showed
got a coalie late 20s on lug banged out

nothing more at distance bar weed - stringy stuff sinking the line and then the odd lump of stalking kelp testing the reel!

a few more rockling showed in front and the tide really began to race away

the sea was absolutely boiling off the breakwater at the end of the pier to my right - there was crazy currents kicking all directions

had enough weed hauling so packed it in after 3 hours - a few fish, no rain, out of the wind couldnt complain :D

it was the beach i wanted to bring you to the last night you were down, but i couldnt remember how to get to it - it would probably have been full of weed that night too

i feel its really important this weather to know when to say no and go home

kicking the dead dog for another 2 hours is not always the answer!
