Youghal 27 & 28 nov

#1 Post by MarkoC »

27th nov

People: me

Duration: 16.45-20.45

Tide: High tide was 18.45

Weather: lovely calm

Bait: Crabs

Rigs: 1 hook trace

Results: 2 smallish cods and coalie

Report:
First 2 hours there was no fish at all, after the tide started falling some fish came in. In Green Park there was 9 rods :D
I caught 2 cods, one about 2lb and other one around 1.5lb. One guy caught 2 rays, first one got a way as the line snapped, and we all were looking at it moving slowly back to the sea and nothing we could do, after 15 min he got lucky again and caught another one, This time he took Gordon's advice and pulled it all around the quay to the coast and got it, around 5-6kg id say ...
Weed weed weed exactly 2h after the high tide ....
Overall was a good night out again :)

28th nov:

People: me

Duration: 19.00-21.00

Tide: High tide was 19.30

Weather: STORM

Bait: Crabs

Rigs: 1 hook trace

Results: 2 cods

Report:

When I arrived to the Green Park there was 2 other men fishing (locals). 1 of the men left about 19.45 and other one about 20.15
They were very skeptical about the fish. But i had a feeling i will catch some as it happened all last week, cod will take the bait about 1h after the high tide. So "enjoying" the nasty weather i caught first cod about 20.40 /about 1.5lb and second one 9pm about 2lbs (47cm) But as i was in real rush i left the place with the hook in my last cods mouth haha. Im sure there was more cod out there !

Have to apologize here, i really dunno but both were same sort ones ... Heard thats the most common you can catch here ... As it was dark there id say it looked like a flounder (color), but im half blind as well :D
