skerries north strand

#1 Post by eoghanb »

People:me

Duration:21:30-23:30

Tide:rising

Weather:calm ,slight breeze

Bait:mack

Rigs:flappers

Results:whiting all the way

Last minute fishing trip, the missus's friend dropped in unexpected so a plan was hatched to escape, they bought the old ill get out of the way so u can have a good chat line, next thing where to go out of the wind, then remembered the north beach in skerries ,i barely felt any wind.first cast two whiting ,then two a cast, they were big ones most were 20cm,well thats big for where i fish anyway, tried some bigger baits to see if anything else about, got one decent bite but it came off ,felt like a dog, ended up with about 30 whiting, all returned, all in all better than listening to two women talking about handbags and stuff

Nice one Eoghan... Do you know if anyone has ever had codling around Skerries. I'd say there must be some but I've never heard of any being caught....

Its a handy spot in a southwesterly when its too windy to fish the pier, the buildings gave me loads of shelter and its only a ten yard walk to the spot, but its plagued with whiting and crabs in close, grand for a quick session thou
