sligo 15,16th nov donegal 17th

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: me 1st and 3rd night, joined by leadhead on 2nd night

Duration: about 3 hours

Tide: filling

Weather: got worse

Bait: lug, mac, sandeel, squid

Rigs: flappers pulleys

Results: flounder and dogs

Report: was supposed to go after wrasse and pollack on the tuesday but got the tide wrong - there wasnt much water and the weed cover was poor

tried a bit of rock hopping with ledgered crab hoping to pick up a wrasse but no joy, got a good look at an interesting mark all the same

luckily the other side of the head land was a well know beach with reports of bass a few days before

had a flounder on my first cast, then quiet for an hour, then picked up a dog, then a flounder - but the ireland match was calling so left it

bass to be had another day, lovely soft evening as they say

following evening went further north towards the leitrim border and met up with leadhead - had a flounder on first cast and then each of the next 3 casts - a fish a cast!

but as the waves reached the rocks on either side of the small bay - the flounder seemed to move off - then the rain came and the wind picked up

leadhead picked up a doggy but the weather began to take its toll as did the moving higher up on the rocks with the filling tide so left it

he handed me 10 razors as he headed off - sound man!

then thursday was horrible rain and driving wind - i knew it was going to be tough but after a drive to south donegal after work - i said id give it 2 hours

the reports on this beach were so amazing of late - that if it truly was as amazing as the reports even in these conditions it woudl throw up a fish or two

as it happened i only lasted about an hour on the beach - i physically could not keep my eyes open in the sand that was being kicked up by the gusting winds cutting across the beach

the surf still looked great with nice tables showing but no bites

a season of mediocraty continues :D
