pollack fun

#1 Post by Tom H »

People: me

Duration: 2hs

Tide: yep

Weather: ok to start then rain

Bait: lures

Rigs: drop shot & jigging

Got out to night for couple of hours after work. Went over to a local harbour to see if any pollack wanted to play. Started off with a 8g metal jig down the side and got 7 or 8 up to about 30cm or so. Went a bit quiet so down went the drop shot rig with a 3" Panic Minnow in Ayu color nicked onto a size 8 carp hook again after 6 fish it went dead re rigged the panic minnow wacky style with a 10g lead on the tail to stop it being pushed around the corner with the tide. That got me another few pollack. But the best bit off the night was free lining the SP under the lights of the harbour! Just don't know how many hits I got. Okay did not hook up to many but was fun!!! Grant you it was not true LRF (Light Rock Fishing) as I was using 10lb braid and a 7g/25g jig & spin rod. Just a pity the rain came on to spoil the nights fun.

I've been meaning to try SPs at that venue to see if it would sort out the big ones from the little ones.

I originally thought of using SP crabs to see if it would pick up the bigger wrasse which show up from time to time.

Nice work.
