Culdaff SAC Open Beach Competition Sunday 20 November

Culdaff SAC (North Inishowen, Co. Donegal) are holding our annual open beach competition this coming Sunday 20th November 2011. Fishing is on Culdaff Beach from 1-6pm. There will be double pegs available for adults and juniors. Entry fee is €15 which includes longest fish pool. Any queries pm either me or Scara.

My brother in Law is from Culdaff I might be heading up that way what kinda fish can you catch from the beach hope you all have a good day out....

Good stuff, i'm sure he would know most of us in the club. We normally get decent flounder and coalies (>30cm) mostly at this time of year but Culdaff beach can through up good turbot, plaice and dabs with the occasional bass and other species like rockling, whiting, pollack around. It can have large numbers of small turbot in the 12-18cm range which makes for very few blank days for those pleasure fishing. All the best and thanks for the interest.

Conditions look good for this competition. Should be a very good day out.

coalfish,plaice,dab flounder,turbot,sea trout,thornback ray,pollock,ling,mackeral

Results of Comp as follows;

1st Place - Andy McCallion - BADAC - 224pts - 10 fish
2nd Place - Alistair McCane - Whitewave - 182pts - 8 fish
3rd Place - Eugene Andrews - Whitewave - 178pts - 10 fish
Longest fish - Brian Bergin - 37cm Flounder
1st Junior - Mathew Williamson - Whitewave
2nd Junior - Dylan Doherty - Culdaff

Number of Anglers - 32
Number who caught fish - 24
Total fish caught - 87 (flounder, turbot, coalie, LSD)

Thanks to all those who fished the comp and supported once again this year.
