Delayed Report 5/11/2011

#1 Post by Conger »

People:Me & Arthur

Duration:Longer than expected

Tide:Dropping and Incoming

Weather:Calm & Dry

Bait:Fresh Peeler & Frozen Razor

Rigs:Penells and 2 hooks

Results:Fish (thank God)

Report:A bit late getting this report up and have not been on the site for a while due to work and possibly the worst run of fishing that me and bassmania have ever put down in and around West Clare (delighted to hear that about 5 weeks ago there were 2 trawlers caught in Doonbeg by the naval service and the Gaurds :D :D ), So decided that it was time to relocate so off to Cork we set with cod in mind, unfortuneatly Bassmania is laid up for a while after having an operation. Monkstown was the venue so ordered up some peeler off Nationwide Baits during the week and left Limerick with dubious expectations due to the recent run of luck :? :? did not even bring the camera  Arthur and myself got set up on the outgoing tide, this was Arthur's first trip for shore cod so we set up with arthur fishing 1 rod and i launched out two rods, 1 pennel and 1 2 hook rig, within minutes Arthur struck into a lovely 2lber and i had a snap off ( NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO  ) I snarled and growled as i replaced the leader and trace, eventually got the gear back out and lifted into the second rod and deja vu another snapper     so left off the 2 hook rig and stuck to the pennel. Arthur was off the mark again with another 2lber, so then the piss taking started  with me being the brunt until i got off the mark with a fish that came in a 4lb, for me this was like a bar of gold after the summer  :D after that we had a steady run of fish with the best fish coming in at 5lb, total tally was me 6 codling and Arthur 5 codling 8) 8) :D this was one of my best sessions in months and now i intend to apply for a passport for the Peoples Republic :D :D :D again sorry for the lack of pictures,

Cheers Fergal, after the first couple of snappers and then the apperance of Flipper the seal i thought 'here we go again  ' but turned out to be a great session, by the way, the place is alive with wildlife down there between otters, seals, rats and fox's, rats being the least favourite :D :D
