W Waterford, 1-4 Nov

#1 Post by Stan »

People:Me, Leon 7 and Keelan 6

Duration:1st 17.00-20.30, 3rd 11.00-16-00 qnd 18.00-19.30

Tide: rising

Weather: Lovely

Bait:lugs and crab

Rigs: 2 up

Results: coalies and huge flounders

Report:1st : Hoped to hit Ballyquin for a few hours on Tuesday but weed everywhere stopped this. So headed to Ardmore. It was action from the start with Leon and Keelan hammering coalies up to about 28cm :D :D . I was too busy as a helper to fish.

2nd was awful with non-stop heavy rain and v high winds.

3rd: very little choice as beaches were covered in weed. Decided to try for flouders in Blackwater in a place I had not fished for 40 years.....JC I sound old. Anyway no action until tide had dropped about 2 hours and I got 3 quickly in succession up to about 2.5 lb. Sizes 36cm,38cm and 45 cm. :D :D Main excitement was when the rod stand went down with the 2 rods. I thought it might have been a bass or big cod. When I lifted the 2nd rod a bird came up with the line and in came a curlew. He was badly tangled in my braid and I had to cut it. ... magnificent bird and once we calmed him down he just waited to be released.

4th: Looking at website the following day we missed on cod fishing in Youghal and so I hit the old bridge on 4th from 19.00-20.00..... not a bite   . Ah well that's why it's called fishing and not catching

Yep. Thought I'd see you around this year. Was a great year for bass ... mainly small.

The 2 youngsters drag me out. They are absolute fanatics

Yep. The curlew was well wrapped around my line. There was no way no untangle it. So I had to chop the braid.... v expensive but it was worth it to see the bird fly away :D :D :D

I much prefer to see kids out fishing than playing computer games or watching TV. Guess I am just old fashioned!!
