skerries

#1 Post by eoghanb »

Tried the swimming spot beside the playground ,using lug mussle cocktails, one problem was two lobsterpot markers straight in frount of me so i had to cast short, anyway got two proper bites ,so wound in first rod felt a half decent fish on then felt rocks and lost everything and shockleader, next rod good bite and same thing, pity about the pots cause i would have easily casted past the rocks,so ill defo try again but at low tide, also tried other swimming spot and pier all pin whiting, anyway nice to be out ,and a pot of coffee waiting for me when i got home

Fair Play Eoghan! Nice to see someone is still flying the Flag.... Had a small pout there once, nothing else.... That was summer during the day though!

I feel the urge coming on again!

Maybe at low tide we might find a gap between the pots, but the swimming place is great nice high wall ,seats ,room for casting and plenty of water to get the fish in ,if they moved the pots a few meters either side of the channel weed be sorted,id happily fish there on a cold evening,u can even keep an eye on the car

fair play Eoghan, perserverence will be rewarded! I walked that part of Skerries a while back just to check it out, looks like it should produce alright but thought that your head would be wrecked by locals walking by offering their 'sagely advice' on how to catch fish!

PSML!!! I wonder if it was the same person that came up to me and Sparkey :D :D :D, He came up shaking his head, "lads lads your in the wrong place its the pier," (I had the Powerstix15.9 and 13' rods with me) "those rods are perfect for pier fishin down there!!"  and when I hauled in the bait traces, "No you want feather for mackerel, they only go for feathers, I seen a lad pull 3 out at the sametime!!!"
I tried to explain we were going after different fish psml and you could see the whole conversation went right over his head by the look in his eyes!! :D :D
