Kerry trip

#1 Post by iona »

Me:

2 x 3hr trips:

Flood

windy :

lug & razor

Guys,
2 small mini trips while on a short holiday break with the Boss.

Trip 1 Inch Strand.
waited for a number of days for the wind and when it came it came. Boy was it strong however the stir did it a world of good as a few bodies had tried early in the week and it had been poor.
first cast was a missed bite and from there i had a fish every cast for 9 casts with the last a double shot of schoolies. nothing bigger than 2.5lbs however it was good to get some sport and 10 was a number that would be familiar.

2nd trip Ventry

couple of days later and the lug topped up i set of for another bash at Inch however the size of the surge was immense and it was going to be impossible. With time short and the Boss's patientce being tested a quick run to Ventry seemed like a good idea. however on arrival there was no surf left and the weed was piled up. however in for a penny as they say.
Picked a spot where i thought the weed was less and baits sent out and hey presto five minutes later the rod is off the stand. i had to negotiate the weed with the fish and the prize was a 4lb+ fish and a nice flounder to boot.
2nd cast was another double shot this time the prize was a flounder about 12oz and the days smallest bass of 1.5lbs. from then on it was 1 at a time however i managed another flounder at a pound and a further 5 bass all between 2-3lbs.
Great wee session all the better as i could again ask the camera woman to leave the confines of the car to take quick snaps.
ps. note if taking wifey to Inch they are likely to spend a fortune on coffee and cake in the cafe
ps. thanks Ken your wee tip re Ventry was spot on.
