Hey , looking to get a fairly basic fishfinder, no need for bells and whistles , just depth and obviously fish =) I live on lough corrib so will be using it here 90% o the time, from lake boat and hopefully a kayak in the near future, though will surely take the kayak sea in the better weather.

I bought this one http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Wireless-Sonar-F ... 2a14c1d7f4 about 3 years ago, find it great on the lake, gives depth, speed and ground information, water temperature etc. a bargain for the price and a very universal kit because of the external sensor. Handy when fishing from the shore and attached to a second rod.

The Echo 500 is awesome. The 550 has the same capabilities but a better screen.
The performance is just unreal! A huge leap forward in finder technology methinks.

cant go wrong with garmin the 550 c is a cracking number

If you are living near Galway, dont forget to visit the Irish game angling and fly fair show in the Galway Bay Hotel on the 19 and 20th of November. And if you can wait until them for your fishfinder; Marine Web Store Ireland.com will be at one of the stands.
