If you mean getting a custom built Zziplex, Conoflex blank etc. then yes. I can recommend Phil Hyde, Gerrys of Morecombe, or Julian from Tony's Tackle. Phil Hyde is the finesse in rod building, its a art form for him!

I know some lads go directly to Tony Carroll at Zziplex but you be doing well unless you would have a decent regular order. Bob Moss does his own rods in Kerry and has a good relationship with Blank Manafacturers, maybe that would be a route to take, i.e. go through someone who has some leverage to get one done :)

Hi Mark

What type of blank are you looking for that you can't already get?

I have all my Zziplex built by Julian Shambrook, he does a great job, as you want it. He is also producing is own blanks soon (Anyfish Anywhere), so you should give him a ring.

Hope this helps.

i need a 15 footer. stiff butt, through action with a soft, fine tip. don't want it too sloppy though. does not have to be a casting rod moreso something for soft baits and light lines. casting up to 4oz. + bait. only needed for distance up to 120yards.

one or two rods i have seen come close but either fall of in lenght or have to high a casting weight. i don't like the continental rods and i am swayed by the triplex. it's a good rod.

as far as know the new zippy 3 pieces are very stiff.

i just don't want to spend a lot of money on something and then just have to make do!

i heard Bob Moss gets his own rods built i he could be the best man for the job!

i can vouch for wayne's rods they look the dogs doo daas brilliant finish.

if you are looking for long rod to cast delicate baits you will not go far wrong with the shakespear k2 range. i use the cheapest version the k2 blue metal 16 ft. i use it on the beaches and estuaries for flounder fishing, and casting bunches of maddies out is no problem the rod is soft enough to give them a good belt upto around the 80 - 100 yd mark without them flying off the hook.
they are rated 3 - 8 oz i think but would'nt fancy anything over 5 oz with bait.

If you only want a light rod to go 120 yards, why not look at freshwater gear? I have a shimano exage carp rod - not 15' but 12'6", but casts only up to 3 oz, and especially with braid, you feel everything through the fine tip

hi mark,
going back to the k2 i own, been fishing down lougher river in llanelli today with it, even though it is rated 3 - 8 oz today i was using two hook flappers loaded with mud worm and cast out anywhere from 30 to 80 yds with a 1/2, 1 and 2 oz leads. no trouble with worms flying off the hook, nice soft rod for casting delicate baits and long traces.

thats good going with those baits. heard 80 yards was seen as exceptional with such baits on flappers and only very few rods could do it. it does sound ideal- whats the build quality like?

i know it sounds daft but for what you are describing there is a rod which ive seen in action recently and it would do all you have asked for and its dirt cheap - ron thompson x symmettry! though the tripplex is smashing on the 16ft!got it myself and well pleased.
