DUBLIN BOAT MARKS (IMELDA)

#1 Post by JOHN1 »

Crew[/b harry and i

Duration: 1.30-6pm

Tide:flood/ebb

Weather:overcast to start then splitting stones

Bait:rag lug mack crab

Rigs:various

Results:cod, whiting, ling, macks, LSD'S, pollack, ballan wrasse.

i managed to get afloat for a few hours today,i have not been out for about 5 weeks or so  not a bad day at all things started a bit slow with only whiting and a few macks to show,we decided to stay away from animals as the macks for bait were a bit scarce, we decided to try get a few fish for the table,we headed to some of my usual haunts not long before i had a nice bite on my mini rod had a cod of about 3.5lb to a tiny bit of rag on a size 10 hook lip hooked 8) it was only in the net when my other rod arched over after a nice little scrap a 4lb pollack was getting his lights put out
that was it from this mark so another couple of moves seen us getting into a few nice fat wrasse and a few small pollack.
next stop was time to hit a ling mark i have we only had the anchor set when harry had a cod of about 2.5lb in the boat not a bad start,we had big baits out and i had the mini rod on the go harry also had a rubber eel out on his spinning rod.
next thing harry was into a nich fish taken close to the bottom on the eel, a also got a nice knock on the mini rod after a good scrap i had a ling in the net touching 4lb on a tiny bit of mack size 10 hook again  then harrys fish surfaced a much better ling, but before i could get mine from the net harrys line snapped at the lure, ling and lure gone :x
made another move and we managed a few nice pollack best been 5lb 8) not a bad few hours and great to be on the water 8)
sorry for no pictures forgot the camera and phone :?

good on you John 8) , well done! At least you're getting out, more that I can say for myself, having my inlaws here until mid October  ah well, I consider my sufferings as personal contribution to boost Irish tourism

Thanks lads  , im just about getting out martin :? , the winds have been ruining plans over this side the last few weeks :x not looking great for this weekend either
having the inlaws that long should be more of an excuse for you to get out fishing at least 3 times a week, that would nearly cut their stay in half for you
