complaint from IFSA affiliated SAC

#1 Post by kieran »

Hello

John and I are in receipt of a letter from an IFSA affiliated SAC claiming that the club and some of its members have been abused on the website.

We are now investigating this per website rules and will keep you informed. Currently we are awaiting details on the specific posts that they find objectionable...

Can I take this opportunity to reiterate that : -

a) the website operates based on the goodwill of all the community members
b) it can not afford to engage in legal wrangles concerning libel and defamation, as it continues to operate on a not for profit basis
c) people are legally responsible for their own posts (or those made on your account)
d) your posts can be traced back to you
e) you can be held accountable in court for anything deemed defamatory
f) the website has a set process for reporting abuse or similar issues.

This community and the forums get high praise from many visiting anglers (especially from the UK) who comment on how helpful and generous the community is with its time and knowledge, and it is a credit to everyone here... John and the moderators do a great job in keeping it safe and sane (most of the time  ) and we recognize that everyone here has the best interests of the community at heart when they post on the forums, but we would ask members to more actively report abusive threads and to refrain from trolling/flaming etc.

Live and let live. We will do our best to protect your right to express your opinions here, but every member has a responsibility to ensuring that the site and forums stays online...

Many thanks and tight lines
Kieran Hanrahan
