Weather:dry but stiff southerly breeze

Bait:mack

Rigs:feathers and tope trace

Results: loads of big mack couple of pollock and thornback ray

Report:launched the boat hoping to get out around a mark that we normally catch pollock as we knew it would be to rough to anchor at our tope mark.we had intended to drift but the wind strength moved us to fast so after a few mack and a couple of pollock we headed back to the shelter around eddy island and anchored. we caught a good few large mack and set up 2 rods with tope traces just incase.had a few cups of tea and the sambos then my rod gave a good knock with a nice thornback ray.could of had more mack but only wanted some for bait and a few for the tea! good to get out as the winds dont look good for the week to get out to the aran marks!!!

Well done on getting out man,

Sounds like it was an alright days fishing, I’m going into the withdrawal symptoms because of not being able to get the boat out due to the force 5 to 7 we been having around Kilkee - and it looks like it will be much the same for the next week or so… least that’s what the site I use for the weather says,

Is Galway Bay protected a little from southerly winds… I would imagine a strong westerly would stir it up around there ?
