Re: world casting championships-live from italy
just talked to paddy and the lads in italy, conditions are pretty hard, 36 degrees and wind all over the place forcing a court change, marty's last cast was literally into the wind!
they are currently lying in 7th place overall-mid place in the championship which is fantastic given its our first world casting comp with a chance of improving if conditions settle and it gets a bit cooler later on
paul noble has a 241 which at the moment is 2nd longest cast so far today-absolutely brilliant stuff, only danny is ahead with a 256
its a bit of a lottery at the ockey, the wind could be blowing any direction or not at all

Tough conditions to say the least but lads doing great. They all said it's defo too hot for wellies!
Looking like England and Italy fighting for top spot, the reports are going up after each round so It's good reading,

Re: world casting championships-live from italy
its now all down to the final cast of the comp, the third round saw little few improvers so conditions must'nt have improved
England are still in the lead with Italy 2nd and France third, but there's very little in it and a couple of big casts or for that matter poor ones will be the decider
Ireland are still i think holding in 7th place
great work from the lads

Re: world casting championships-live from italy
Got a text from paul to say that he did indeed get a bronze in the 175g. Was pipped in the final round by Del Nero of Italy A. Fantastic effort from the rest of the guys too in 35C heat and wind all over the shop. A success for Ireland 1st trip to the worlds. And like Austin said yet to hear final team position. They were 7th after 150g. Here's hoping they jumped up to 6th after the 175g.

really super result for the irish team and especially for paul get a bronze in the 175
was talking to andrew a short while back and he thinks Ireland maintained 7th place but that has to be confirmed, either way its still a big achievement considering its the first time we competed

Well done to the whole team for stepping up to the mark and finishing off with a very respectable result. And also a big pat on the back for Paul for picking up the bronze, a fantastic result.
