this session was planed during the week but then knocked on the head as james had not got the car his bird took it for the weekend but her da was taken into hospital on saturday so he rang me on sunday to ask if i was still into a session but we had no bait dug only had crab in the frezzer so i made a quick call to the dodger to ask if gottca angling was open on sundays and he gave me the tumbs up and the number THANKS ROGER so hit graystones for some rag and other bits and bobs on the way to the mark arrived and were fishing for about 4pm i had a small tub gurnard on the first cast and was thinking this cant be bad first cast and a fish so sent the rod out again this time the rod kept nodding away with small bites but i could not connect then i set up the second rod with big crab baits and put it out as far as i could and set down to roll a smoke and to mellow out i only had the smoked rolled and james rod was draged off the tripod with the line zipping to the left so he lifted into the fish but had no drag set and lost it after 15/20 seconds we were thinking bass because he was only 30/40 foot out so i reeled in and put a fresh bait just out in front of me
after about 10 mins my rod in close doubled over so i lifted into it and felt a good fish on after a good scrap with her she was landed my first decent hound of the year was on the beach at 4lb it was no monster but a welcome site all the same noting happened for the next half hour or so until my rod at distance took a dive and i soon had another 4lb hound landed a male this time soon after i picked up a small flounder and every cast after that we were get small knocks but could not get any hooks ups on the 2/0-3/0 hooks packed up at 9.30 and went home happy (well i did) will be back to try this mark again on a rising tide
