mayo beach 17-08-2011

#1 Post by saving private brian »

People:mise

Duration:15.00pm-18.00pm

Tide:lw@14.30pm

Weather:smashing

Bait:lug,mack,sandeel

Rigs:flapper and a macguyver rig

Results:flounder to every cast.20 odd or more.biigest 38cm,smallest 25cm.a tiny plaice at the end

Report:knowing i wouldnt get out tommorow i decided to try the local competition venue to see how it was fishing.i always find later in the summer it produces better.dug a few lug and headed down.was a smashing afternoon.went to the spot and set up.had a surfing training school to my right and they were roaring and shouting.surprised there was any fish around.had plenty of chatters too.was talking to people from england, germany, belgium and of course the monaghan man .had a wee dog that ran off with my mackeral too the wee mutt.anyway everytime i casted there was tip movement within minutes.kinda got sick of pulling in flats in the end.conditions were ideal with the water being more green.ideal for a plaice but only got a tiny one at the end.wrapped it up at 6pm and headed for home.just shows ya small sessions can be plenty fun too.hope to get out friday.think im getting the beach fishing bug back

you really need to be where you were positioned to hit the fish

that beach is such a heart breaker - you make the draw and the comp is nearly over!

would love to be bored by a fish a cast for 3 hours
