Brittas Bay Beach 13/08/2011

#1 Post by stevo74 »

People: Me

Duration: 19:00-00:30

Tide: HW 23:00ish

Weather: Overcast with light W wind

Bait: Rag, Lug, Crab & squid

Rigs: pulley and 2 hook flapper

Results: One pup

Report:

The hunt for the big smoothie continues.........even while driving down the N11 I hadn't decided where to fish yet but opted for Brittas in the end. Got setup in a little cove on the South end. It was only after I realised that all the sand in the cove was wet and that in a few hours the tide would come right up and I would be cut off on both sides with no where to stand. Put all the gear on a little rock 'island' but even then the waves were hitting it and splashing right over so couldn't relax ! Went for the escape route and threw all the gear up on the rocks and climbed up...sweet :D just found a nice little platform elevated 2 metres over the beach so had a great bird eyes view over the sea in case any monster fish broke the surface

Anyway setup there and had two rods on the go - peeler out far for smoothies and lug & rag in close for any roaming Bass.
Not a touch on any of the rods until after another hour or so when the close in rod was nodding. Reeled in to find a tiny pup hound on the end but even he didn't grab the bait ! He must have been checking out the funky beads and when he turned to leave his tail got caught in the hook  Anwyay let him go and that was all I caught for the rest of the night :x :x Packed up at 00:30 and got out over the rocks........the hunt continues..............

Alright tight lines- twas me alright, nice to meet you. Looks like all the smoothie action was happening around the corner in Ennereilly ! Cheers for the thought but it was just as well I didn't get the bait off you or else I would've never went home !
Left about 00:30 and managed to get back onto the beach over the rocks there so didn't have to build a raft to escape like Tom Hanks in Cast away ( Wilson thought it was a bad idea anyhow :) )
