ian gold rod

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

ian gold rod

#1 Post by Declan G »

Hi lads
Can ye help me pls , i have a international match -M , now dose the m bit at the end mean a multiplyer rod and if so
can someone suggest a reel that goes well with this rod . i use fixed spool all the time on other rods and am afraid of a loss of distance by switching over to multi , and would like to stick to using braid too if possible
regards Dec

Yes if its "M" on the rod it's most definitely a multiplier rod. Braid is not great on multiplier reels it digs into itself and causes problems better off with mono. The reels most suited to the International Match "M" are either The ABU 6500 family or the Diawa 7ht's they sit nice and low on the rod and you can achieve good grip on the spool while casting..
