8 bass to 12lbs (and 2 flounder):
Decided to ditch work today and go fishing. There wasnt a puff of wind and there was plenty of cloud cover so i decided to go plugging for bass at a local mark. Third cast and i was into the big one. He tore line off the reel at a ferocious pace. He put up a fine struggle but after ten mins i had him ashore and after a few pics and a measurement (78cm) he was returned safe to fight another day. After that the next half hour there was non stop action. There was obviously lots of sandeel being scattered all over the place we could see the gulls diving for them aswell. My mate followed up with a fine bass of 60cm on a plug then i had 2 at 58 and 52. The tide was coming in fast so we packed the plugging rods away and went bait fishing. After the second cast my mate had another 60cm bass on a crab bait. Then i had 2 flounder. We left soon after because of the weed. We found another part not so weedy and cast a few more crab baits out. We stayed here for an hour or so, my mate caught 2 schoolies and we decided to pack it up and head for the car. My mate suggested a few more casts with the plugging rods and i was only itching to have another go at them. So off we went again. As we were walking to the mark out of the cornrer of my eye i could see a bass in only 50mm of water speeding off to sea. He was obviously foraging without a care in the world in only 50mm of wateruntill we startled him, I never seen a bass come so close before. We stayed for another hour and despite seeing lots and lots of activity in the water I only managed one more bass of 52. A very enjoyable day! Beats working thats for sure
