Bass trip... and again my son made my fishing look funny

#1 Post by simplywabs »

People:Me, Gabriel, Felix, Joel guided by Bassdad and Julian

Tide: Various

Weather: Scorching hot...

Bait: lures...

Rigs: lures...

Results: 4 Bass, 5 Pollock

Report:

I decided to book some guided Day Bass fishing and have Bass added to my species list for 2011... We started the day not so early and went to our mark where Bassdad took us at about 1 hour to low tide. The four of us spread out at the mark and started casting our lures. In less than 30 minutes Gabriel already had his first bite and it was what we expected, a Bass, and a good sized one. After another 10 minutes Felix got his first one as well a little bit smaller than what Gabriel had but was also a decent size. Pressure is starting to build up but hopes are very high due to the number takes we got in such a short period of time. And yet I am right, just after another 15 minutes I got a bite and also had a Bass... though most of them thought I got a trout... when looking from where they are casting and their distance to me it would definitely look like a sea trout. Indeed, my first Bass was a wee one. But none the less, the small Rod and reel made it all fun. We have to move after an hour due to the tide changing... We had lunch just after the first mark and it was only then when I saw the photos and we all had great craic looking at Gabriel's photo and my photo with our Bass. We got one more good sized Bass from the other mark and 5 Pollocks of different sizes. All fish were returned safe including the Pollocks with a chance to fight another day!!!

As I was told, one good thing about what I caught is that it could only get bigger.... I cannot possibly catch a Bass egg which is what is smaller than what I caught. :D :D :D

The experience of fishing with Bassdad is perfect and I do recommend taking this trip with him to have the experience and learn the techniques. It was all well worth it. Fun and enjoyable... Julian is also a great guide with some tips on the side... :D :D :D

Sharing some of the photos we had over that session.

Onwards 2011... next target to my 2011 species count is the Blue Shark... Hope to end the season with that on my list...

Great fishing lads. Is that pic with the chap in the yellow with the big fella photoshopped? I know ya took the background out but did ya do something to the fish? Not criticizing just curious  If not its lucky he didnt get his hands shredded by the gill plates!

Hi Jayball... I didn't edit that photo except for the background. I think he dropped the fish the first time that's why he had to hold on to it a bit tight... didn't know he can be injured with those gills. He's my son...

It was a pleasure meeting you lads , you laughed and smiled     the whole day which was great for us aswell.

Keen anglers that stuck to the task even during a slow afternoon in very bright conditions 8) , I hope you find yourselves a good bass mark to enjoy and look after up in county Clare.

Give us a shout if you're ever down this way again and good luck with catching the blue shark. One down one to go.

There are no photoshopped fish in the pictures, he really did catch one that small :) . They all count!
