mullet session lough foyle 13/7/11

#1 Post by Paulb »

Had a crack at the bullet on Wednesday, took kids to the beach and by chance spotted a large shoal of mullet working the shoreline. Luckily I had some fly gear in the car so tried for a few hours with some shrimp type flies, needless to say no luck but it was exciting getting that close to a feeding shoal, I'll come back again with dedicated flies and some lighter longer leaders. The mullet were there for 3 hours up until high tide, so at least I know where and what stage of tide to expect the fish.

Hi Paulb.
I was trying to locate a shoal in Lough Foyle,
some show at balls point but not in numbers.
The fresh water after floods will likely scatter them.
Would appreciate any info as i am also trying to
catch one on the fly. or maybe a meet to share info.
Cheers Fer.
Specimens come and go but the passion is for ever.
