SWFF Beara peninsula 9-10 /07/11 part two

#1 Post by johncodown »

People:Me stevie and mick

Tide:Flood
Weather:Cloudy and very very warm no wind

Report:Well 8am start came early and seeing we only had a few hours fishing before we headed home Paul had just the place for us to fish lituraly 5 mins from his B&B Henry and Nick were heading to catch a ferry (lol you can read what happened on his blog) anyways handshakes and goodbyes were exchanged I really have to say that Henry is a true gent and one lucky man wish I had his job 8) .. I have a feeling he might have smitten stevie he started to talk about plugs on the way home  "get behind me satan Im a SWFF purist " ,so we were fishing by 9:30 am this spot was awsome it has 60 feet off water directly below you any of you bait men would water at the mouth if you saw it and to be honest if I was ever tempted to return to the dark side this is the spot I would pick.. It has threw up bullhuss to 10lb, huge conger, triggers, wrasse and even john dory I cant recomend beara enough and paul and his wife anne just are the icing on the cake more advice at http://www.bearaseafishing.com/...
ok back to the fishing I really wanted a wrasse on the fly so I opted for a floating line 15ft leader and ragworm fly stevie continued with his own sandeel patterns and it wasnt long before he hooked a decent pollack my line was getting the odd pluck but nothing serious,, anticipation was starting to rise after an hour so I decided to go walkies..I found a spot that had great casting potential but with the flooding tide I had to be careful very careful the waves in this part of the world are fantastic to watch but boy being hit by one its lights out,, I changed the line to a fast sinker and opted for a small surf candy :D :D first cast bang fish on and not a bad size around 3lb to say I was happy is an under statement Ive had twice that size of my own part of the world but believe me if it had of been 1/2lb it was still getting a kiss ..fish returned second cast bang another fish slighty bigger third cast another about 2lb dare i say the word confident :? :? abso fecking lutley :D it was a fish a chuck for the next 30mins and I was as happy as a pig in shite perfect weather cracking platform for casting whacking a full sinking line out and catching hard fighting and wave pounded pollack it doesnt get any better I think I smiled all the way home. :D ok my southern bass on the fly has yet again won but it wont be that long till Im back hunting and when I get him oh boy ..
