Interesting times

#1 Post by Tanglerat »

I was chatting to a commercial crabber today. He told me turbot and brill are starting to show up again locally, and he's had a good few unexpected plaice also. Plus, cod are showing in steady numbers. I was on a charter last wek, and every angler caught at least a couple of cod. Not massively big - largest went to 5 or 6 lbs at a push. But still nice to see them again around this way.

I'm out again tomorrow. Was intending to go for cod and haddock, but the crabber reckoned it would be worthwhile for "some anglers who knew one end of a rod from the other" to try for the flatties. Might give that a bash, indeed.

Nice to see some fish making a comeback up here. It's been a lean few years.

Great to hear something positive happening where fish stocks are concerned, I hope it continues, good post Tanglerat. I'll hopefully be able to report an improvement in the cod fishing over this way before the summer is out.

Thanks for that.
