casting technique?

what would be the best casting technique to use for distance casting using a shakespeare salt long surf 13ft casting rated at 4-6oz with a 150g lead?

With a rod that length id say off the ground or pendulum will go better than an overhead thump.

thanks i havnt properly tried bait fishing from the beach yet,mainly use lures,which of these techniques would get a further cast and which one is easier?

I would continue with the same style you use when spinning until you get used to the longer rod.

Get out and practice until you feel comfortable and effortless in what you are doing. Then think about changing your style if you need to progress.

Get the basic style right first.
