Courtown, Co.Wexford June 24th (Recovery day!)

#1 Post by jd »

People: JD and Pete

Duration: 3 hours (too long) 2:15pm - 5pm or so

Tide: High at 3:30 pm

Weather: Cold South Easterly, wet miserable horrible etc

Bait: Lug rag sand eel crab mack

Rigs: Flappers and clip downs

Results:
Pete - Dogs and a whiting
JD - pup smuts, flounders and a dab

Report:

Not having to work because I had what the company has euphemistically called a "recovery" day, I decided to pop down to Courtown for a bit of fishing.I dropped into Courtown tackle to collect bait and met Pete, had a chat with Dave and said hello to Jayball10 and his mates. Pete and I grabbed a quick bite and I headed to the beach, Pete coming down a bit later.
Anyway it was miserable. Not a day for a sociable chat between our rods, we spend most of the few hours hiding in our beach buddies. I had pups and flounders in close, Pete picking up the dogs and whiting at distance. I put one out a bit further (couldn't say at distance :) ) and had a smut and a nice dab.
We had enough at this point and headed back to Pete's for a cup of coffee (cheers)

By the way on the way down there was a speed van on the Arklow by-pass, just before it changes from dual-carriageway to motorway. It is actually one of the enforcement zones on this map http://www.garda.ie/Controller.aspx?Page=6497 , but you could easily get caught out if you start increasing speed too quickly. I think I'm ok-I checked the gps logs from the phone....:)

Fair play JD, nice to meet yis at the shop. We had very similar results ourselves.

Weather was absolutely nasty. Didnt let up for 2 seconds! Hopefully will pick up soon.....

Think we got stung by that van too... :x

I presume this was the 24th as it was truly a horrible day yesterday :? . Anyways nice to get a few in those conditions, well done. That road is always well policed. You have to pay attention alright
