what type of fish are these boats after

has anyone any idea what type of fish the fishing boats are after in the area south west of Iceland

I have been watching it on http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/ for a week now and all the boats seem to be following the same track

at one stage over 40 boats were fishing,the boats are from Iceland,Russia,Spain,Portugal,Germany and the faroe islands also there is a law enforcement boat from Germany

what ever it is there after wont take them long to clean it out

i wonder what sort of juristicion agerman law inforcment boat would have in iceland i always thought they policed there waters strictly

Last year the mackeral shoals ended up in Icelandic fjords, presumably due to warmer seas up north. Maybe they've been intercepted on their way back up there this year.

it wont take them long to clean the fish out of the area at the pace they are fishing it,I haven't seen any law enforcement boat from Iceland in the area

I like where they say in the first paragraph ''Determined to ensure the long-term conservation and sustainable utilisation of the fish stocks concerned in their entire area of distribution, and committed to the principle of responsible fishing'' if 20 to 40 boats are fishing the same area for over a week how can you call it sustainable fishing,I will keep a eye on it and see how long they fish it

maybe that's what they are after,i will try find out more about it
