New Bass Rod And Reel

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

New Bass Rod And Reel

#1 Post by youonlythevinegar123 »

Have previously had an abu enticer pro bass with a cardinal reel. It was good value for its quality, but I'm now looking for something a little upmarket. The budget is about €170 overall. Does anyone have any ideas? Would be handy if it was light enough to hold in my hand in the surf, but heavy enough to cast a 3 ounce weight!

Cheers, Cian.

shakespeare salt bass rod, should be around €60-€70, maybe less as theres a newer model out.

the reel, an abu soron stx 70. its basicaly a large spinning reel but i use mine as a small beach reel  . havent had a bass on it yet but did manage a double of dogs, not the best reel in the world for them but it coped fine. for flats and bass it would be perfect. not too small or too big and the drag is very good on it. comes with 2 spools and one is a designated braid spool. it comes in smaller sizes too but the 70 would is perfect on a bass rod.

that pair should come in around your budget give or take a tenner and would work well together.
