Xlayer lure for gilling for pollock?

#1 Post by steol5589 »

have heard alot about the xlayer lure for pollock from the shore so was wondering if it would work when fished from a boat gilling. I usually use a firetail sandeel and find this works well.just wondering if anyone has any experience using this lure from a boat.

Great from the boat!
A tad expensive I think for "wasting" on pollack, a few fish and the Xlayer is generally close to goosed. There are other soft plastics that won't hurt the wallet so much and are equally superb for pollack Eg; Hart Absolute Worm

You could use them gilling without a bother. I tend to use them on jig heads. I use them on a drop-shot rig or rigged weedless in shallow rocky areas - basically there's a multitude of ways to mount/fish them.

I had to look on Henrys' site as the colours are not on the sticker on the bag, just a code :D

The pearl is very good for pollack especially when the water is more coloured.
The Emraude and Okiawa are also good all rounders.

I agree wit Jim its a bit of a waste using xlayers or other expensive soft plastics on pollock. Pollock are not that fussy about lures the cheapest jellyworms often work best for them. Yes they will work but not anymore than a bog standard jellyworm.
